Sharing Cities Malmö – Sege Park
Via the national programme Sharing Cities Sweden, Malmö is one of four national test beds for the development of sharing economy solutions in cities. The primary focus of Malmö’s test bed is the district of Sege Park in northern Malmö. Sege Park will be developed to becomeMalmö’s newcutting-edge district and a national display window for sustainable urban development.
The development will occur via a primary focus on the sharing economy and cooperation. The sharing services to be developed will help reduce the energy and climate impact and contribute to a socially sustainable urban development. The focus will be on developing a range of innovative and smart sharing services, to be developed on the basis of digital platforms.
The test bed in Malmö is being designed by its current owners: E.on, Form/Design Center, the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, the City of Malmö, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Trianon AB. While the programme is being developed, property developers, architects and other actors who are currently operating in Sege Parkor who want to operate there can join the project. The project is being led by the City of Malmö’s Environmental Management DepartmentwithOscar Pelin as the project manager.
The role of Form/Design Center
Form/Design Center's role is that during this period, visualize and communicate a number of sharing ideas related to the development of Sege Park. The aim is to make information accessible and spreading knowledge about the sharing economy and how it can be manifested in the city, beginning in Sege Park.
Background
Sharing Cities Sweden is a national programme that focuses on the sharing economy and aims to put Sweden on the map as a country that actively and critically works with the sharing economy in the urban landscape.Sharing Cities Sweden works to strengthen Sweden’s efforts to achieveglobal sustainability targets and to develop Sweden’s competitiveness by developing new services and companies for the export and local markets. The programme is funded byVinnova and is conducted in collaboration with business, the public sector, universities and institutes. Sharing Cities Sweden is also associated with Viable Cities, a national innovation programme for smart cities.Viable Cities is funded byVinnova,the Swedish research council for sustainable development Formas,andthe Swedish Energy Agency.
The programme’s objectives:
Sweden will be developed into a country that actively and critically works with the sharing economy in cities. To achieve this objective, the work is being done via four cities (Malmö, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Umeå), which are currently acting as test beds. These four cities will be developed into world-leading test-beds for the sharing economy where the opportunities and risks of the sharing economy will be tested, developed and evaluated.
To develop a nationalnode(Sharing Cities Sweden)with the aim of improving national and international cooperation and promoting a sharingof knowledge gained from experience.
