The aim of the project is to transform unused basement spaces into lively, dynamic meeting places that can contribute to both sustainable urban development and stronger social cohesion.
In the project, cultivation is used as a tool to create sustainable and socially inclusive environments in urban areas. By testing new business models and forms of social interaction, the project seeks to develop innovative solutions that can support urban development and contribute to the green transition in existing residential areas.
Over a three-year period, the cultivation systems will be developed, monitored and researched to better understand how they can contribute to future urban development.
Together with local residents
Over the course of three years, participants meet weekly to grow, harvest and cook together. Here, they are given the opportunity not only to grow their own vegetables, but also to cultivate knowledge, community and new ideas for how residential areas can be developed through innovative, sustainable solutions.
Growing the food of the future
The project cultivates mushrooms, microgreens and other crops using sustainable, modern methods. Mushrooms are grown in specially adapted cultivation cabinets, while plants are grown hydroponically – a soil-free technique where nutrients are delivered directly through water.
Together, new crops are tested, knowledge is shared and the cultivation is developed step by step.
