Studio Matilda Ekström's ambition is to create textiles that are poetic and bold with a long shelf life. The studio collaborates with producers in interior design and fashion, but also designs textile objects under its own name in a small-scale studio production. Sensitively examining how color, material, shape and rhythm relate to each other is the basis of the studio's work, while the unexpected in the design process is always given a lot of space. The driving force is to create textiles that relate to a lasting discourse and that inspire people in their everyday lives.
The studio is based in Malmö. Matilda Ekström has a degree in textile design from the School of Textiles in Borås and The Royal Danish Academy of Design in Copenhagen.
