The exhibition presents a selection of visionary projects from around the world. Through in-depth films and interviews, visitors encounter not only the architects behind the award-winning projects, but also the people who use and inhabit these environments. It offers insight into how local materials, traditional craftsmanship and engineering can help address some of today’s greatest challenges – from climate adaptation to the creation of dignified and inclusive public spaces.

Presented every three years, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture sets a new standard for sustainability, cultural continuity and social justice. The exhibition demonstrates that outstanding architecture knows no borders. Presenting the award in Malmö, in a setting shaped by diversity and multiple perspectives, offers an opportunity to highlight how architecture, knowledge and experiences from the Muslim world contribute to and influence architectural discourse and practice, both globally and locally.

Programme

Throughout the exhibition period, an accompanying programme brings together several of the international contributors. Through talks and debates, the programme explores how lessons from the award-winning projects can challenge and develop the ways we shape our built environment. How can global examples inspire stronger local environments and greater social cohesion?
