Touch comes before sight, before speech. It is the first language and the last, and it always tells the truth”.

– Margret Atwood

Have you ever wanted to touch the artwork in a gallery? The sensory exploration of Laura’s work can offer alternative insights into how something was made, and what it is made of. At the heart of her practice is also the suggestion that ‘experiencing’ as opposed to ‘viewing’ materials can lead to arts and crafts exhibitions becoming more inclusive.

Laura Blake is a British artist based in Dals Långed, Dalsland. She studied a BA (Hons) in Embroidery at Manchester School of Art, UK and a MFA in Textile Body Space at HDK-Valand Steneby. She works both in Sweden and internationally on exhibitions and projects in tactile art, focusing her research on how craft can be more accessible.
