Jenny Nordberg (MFA) is a Malmö-based industrial designer who works in an explorative and interdisciplinary way to expand the contemporary view of design and the designer’s role. Whether her project is experimental, conceptual or commercial, she is driven by a search for alternative and counter-strategies to irresponsible mass production. Stylistically her work is characterised by a shrewd combination of minimalism and brutalism, often with chance as an important element.

At Form/Design Center Jenny Nordberg is exhibiting three new projects, all with their starting point in the tension between the handmade and the industrially produced.

It can be almost anything but usually not design.

Your vision/business concept?
My studio works exploratively and interdisciplinarily to expand the contemporary view of design and the designer’s role. Whether the project is experimental, conceptual or commercial, the focus is on a search for alternative and counter-strategies to irresponsible mass production.

Your biggest mistake?
I have heaps of mistakes in my past and that’s really not so bad – they also give me masses of experiences. But I listen to my gut feeling more now – it’s almost always right.

Your dream project?
A café, restaurant or shop at an art gallery or something similar.

Your next project?
One of my next projects is a series of specially designed objects for a hotel in Stockholm that will represent new contemporary design

The Designer of the Month is a series of portraits intended to showcase local talents with links to the Öresund region and also to present an expanded view of design as a concept. The selection is made together with the association DISK (Designers in Skåne) and can be an individual designer, a group, or a manufacturer. The list of design areas is long and includes everything from furniture design, industrial design and architecture to fashion, illustration, the moving image etc.
