TRIBUN was originally created for Sergels torg in Stockholm, one of Sweden’s most symbolic sites for democracy and public assembly. After filling the void left by the classic speaker’s platform steps in Stockholm, the work has now been donated to Malmö and Form/Design Center. From May to October 2026, parts of the installation will be given new life at Hedmanska gården.
In the courtyard, TRIBUN creates a shifting landscape of modules that function as a speaker’s platform, podium, and meeting place, but also as a shared space for rest and reflection. Through its relocation from Stockholm to Malmö, the work continues its journey as a democratic foundation to stand on—both literally and symbolically. Throughout the season, TRIBUN becomes a central part of Form/Design Center’s focus on the role of architecture in democracy, and an important gathering point during the City of Malmö’s major democracy initiative, Malmö möts.
When the installation is dismantled in October, the individual “soapboxes” will be distributed to Malmö residents to live on and be reused in new, local contexts.
