Malmö is a city in constant transformation. Malmö in the Making offers an insight into how the city is planned and developed – from long-term visions to concrete urban development projects. Through examples from the City of Malmö’s work and various methods for dialogue and public participation, the exhibition shows how Malmö’s future is taking shape.
At the heart of the exhibition is a nine-square-metre model of Malmö. The model serves as an educational tool for exploring the city’s different neighbourhoods and understanding how housing, parks, streets and public spaces are connected and evolve over time.
The exhibition also highlights how dialogue, participation and shared responsibility can contribute to a more equitable and sustainable city. It presents examples of the City of Malmö’s work with comprehensive planning and participatory methods, alongside Urban Academy’s perspectives on democratic processes and co-creation in the built environment.
Together, these perspectives show that urban development is not only about buildings and places, but also about the people who live in and shape the city.
