In the project, two Swedish and two Danish designers are matched with manufacturing companies in Denmark and Sweden respectively. Over a period of approximately six months, the participants develop ideas, concepts and potential products based on the companies’ material flows and residual materials.
The focus is on circular design, sustainable development and business concepts with the potential for industrial scalability. By bringing together design expertise with knowledge of materials, production and industrial processes, the project creates opportunities to explore how resources that might otherwise become waste can be given new uses and value.
The project begins with study trips and company visits, giving participants insight into production, materials and processes. Seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions are also organised throughout the project, featuring, among others, designer Jenny Nordberg and Linda Nhu Laursen, Professor and Head of Research at AAU Design Lab, Aalborg University.
The project runs throughout autumn 2026 and spring 2027, with the results presented during Malmö Design Days in May 2027.
