During this two-day course, you will explore intarsia and parquetry by working with repeating patterns and free-form motifs in thin wood veneer. We will use utility knives and cutting mats.
You will become familiar with different types of wood and their properties and appearances, as well as how grain and fibre direction can be used in various ways to influence the expression of a motif. During the course, we will go through techniques for gluing and sanding, and by the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation for continuing to create intarsia on your own.
All tools and materials are provided. The course is open to both beginners and more experienced participants and requires no prior knowledge.
