Digitalization has slowly changed the norm of how and where work is performed. We are able to work from the park, open air café or at the beach. But even though research tells us that working outside has many benefits, many choose to stay inside. Flying paper, sun glare so that you can’t see the screen and uncomfortable benches are some of the reasons. For others, it is about the work culture: “If you are not in the office, you’re not working.”
But the Covid pandemic has changed the way we perceive work and the request for outdoor work environments has drastically increased. Therefore it is time to stop and ask the question – How do we design the workplaces of the future if the work is to take place outdoors?
During Southern Sweden Design Days on the courtyard of Form/Design Center (Hedmanska gården) Nola och Superlab will show you their answer to the question.

Superlab
Superlab är ett experimentellt designlaboratorium med ett syfte att studera och utveckla framtidens arbetsplats. De designar, utvecklar, skapar och förädlar produkter, tjänster och organisationer genom forskning och erfarenhet.
Nola
Nola är idag marknadsledande inom möblering av det offentliga rummet och har Europas bredaste sortiment. Under mer än 30 år har de utvecklat och finslipat idéer, produkter och visioner för det urbana stadsrummet. Nola samarbetar med många av Sveriges främsta formgivare för att gå från idé till tillverkning.
Charlotte Petersson
Charlotte Petersson är licentiand inom Urbana studier samt adjunkt inom Ledarskap och organisation med bakgrund inom Arbetsvetenskap. Hon har även arbetat som organisationsutvecklare centralt på Malmö universitet, samt som Gränsgångare för Institutet för hållbar stadsutveckling. Sedan 2010 har Charlotte utvecklat sin idé om att utforska möjliga sätt att integrera urbana utemiljöer i det dagliga arbetslivet. Under 2017 resulterade detta i det interaktiva forskningsprojektet ”StickUt Malmö”, som är ett kombinerat forsknings- och praktiskt förändringsprojekt i samarbete mellan Malmö stad och Malmö universitet, finansierat av Europeiska Social Fonden. Kärnan i projektet är en gemensam lärprocess om arbetets former och normer.
27–30 May 2021, the very first edition of Southern Sweden Design Days will take place – a new international design event in Malmö. Southern Sweden Design Days invites visitors from all over the world to experience the best the creative southern Swedish design region has to offer.
