The exhibition is the result of a collaborative project initiated by the manufacturing platform SPOK and Hantverkarna Stockholm (Stockholm Craft Association), bringing together six leading designers and six highly respected craftspeople. The project takes its point of departure in the relevance of craft and handicraft in contemporary society and aims to deepen mutual understanding of each other’s skills, methods, and modes of expression.

Working in pairs, the participants have developed new objects or concepts that bear traces of both the designer’s conceptual and formal perspective and the craftsperson’s deep knowledge of materials and processes. The result is a multifaceted collection of works spanning furniture, textiles, glass, metal, and hand-printed wallpapers.

– This is a unique opportunity to experience what happens when craftspeople and designers meet on equal terms. The results demonstrate both a deep respect for tradition and a joyful exploration of new directions, says Anna Gudmundsdottir, Project Manager for SPOK at Form/Design Center.

Together, the works reveal the creative energy that emerges when contemporary design meets solid craftsmanship, highlighting craft’s role as a carrier of culture, a driver of innovation, and a guarantor of quality.

– With this exhibition, we want to highlight the role of craft in contemporary society—as a carrier of culture, a driver of innovation, and a guarantor of quality, says Li Pamp, CEO of Hantverkarna Stockholm.
