Café Operator Wanted

Do you have experience running a café and a passion for creating an inspiring, welcoming, and creative environment? Form/Design Center is seeking a dedicated operator to run a café in our premises – located in a unique cultural setting in the heart of central Malmö.

Form/Design Center in Malmö is Sweden’s leading meeting place for architecture, design, and crafts. Housed in a historic granary at Hedmanska Gården, Form/Design Center has, for more than 50 years, served as a platform for exhibitions, lectures, and workshops that foster innovation and creativity. With its central location by Lilla Torg, Form/Design Center welcomes over 110,000 visitors annually.

About the Café

The café space available for lease is located on the first floor and covers approximately 75 sqm, of which 15 sqm consists of a small kitchen, preparation area, and serving/sales counter. The café enjoys an attractive location directly connected to Form/Design Center’s exhibitions, public programs, and design shop. It is furnished with seating from Skandiform and accommodates approximately 30–40 seated guests. Visitors also have the option to sit outdoors in the courtyard (around 20 seats).

We are keen to see a café concept that aligns with our values of sustainability, quality, and creativity. For the right entrepreneur with the right concept, there is strong potential for growth.

Permits

The current permit allows for the serving of cold dishes and light refreshments, including coffee, tea, cold beverages, and items such as sandwiches, salads, and pastries. No cooking is permitted on-site. Food handling consists of plating cold items and reheating pre-prepared food in a microwave or oven. There is currently no license to serve alcohol.

Together with the right operator, we are open to exploring opportunities to develop the café concept further and expand existing permits.

Lease Terms

Fixed rent or a hybrid model. Contract duration and terms will be discussed in consultation with the selected operator.

We are looking for a driven, long-term partner who is responsive and collaborative, and who wants to develop the café together with us. Form/Design Center is Sweden’s leading platform for architecture, design, and crafts. As a public venue, we engage a broad audience while also serving as a central hub for industry professionals. Located in the historic granary at Hedmanska Gården in central Malmö, we welcome over 110,000 visitors annually.

Through exhibitions, public programs, and development projects, we promote awareness of the design of the environments in which we live. In collaboration with the public sector, academia, industry, and various organizations, we work to generate new perspectives for a sustainable future. The first of our three public floors also includes a bookstore and design shop.
